It’s March Madness for Campus Ministry!

Uncategorized No Comments »

The season will soon change from cold to comparatively warmer. Colors of the landscape will brighten up. Sounds of nature will liven up. People just tend to be more happy in the Spring! What does this mean for Campus Ministry? Well, by now you are at a mid-point in the semester and hopefully have your momentum. Special events, concerts, easter specials and other great opportunities to invite college students to will present themselves.

Mission242 is having March Madness too, by taking the show on the road to two conferences in March (thanks to the host pastors for the invitation!) The No Limits Conference in Sacramento, hosted by The Rock Church (March 4-6) and Summit hosted by Cornerstone Church in Spokane, Washington (March 26-28).

Let us know you’ll be there! There will be a special meeting during the No Limits Conference, so please RSVP in advance! We appreciate any testimonies/praise reports you can email as well!

Thanks for obeying God’s command to “GO” (mat 28:19).

Campus Evangelism a Crime?

Uncategorized No Comments »

Interesting story published by onenewsnow.com that tells of the story of Ryan Dozier, who was talking to students on his campus about Christ. After being approached by a campus police officer to leave because he did not have a permit, Ryan went home. Three weeks later the campus president stating that his actions were the subject of a crime report on campus.

This story is interesting on many levels. It also provides a good reason to become an endorsed organization through your college. Perhaps, the more troubling thing, is that if you are a student, is is really a crime to tell others about Christ? Whatever the additional details that we remain in the dark on, it’s always good to keep a radar on these things. The hour is coming close, and the church’s greatest days are ahead.

The Holidays and Your Campus Ministry

The holidays are always a great time for your group to capitalize on, with regard to Campus Ministry.

Thanksgiving Feeds for the Hungry, 5k runs, Charity programs, Christmas Concerts, Plays, Parties… all this is a great way for your Apostolic group to show itself on campus. I’d start planning RIGHT NOW if you haven’t begun yet. Any successful ideas out there than have been beneficial in the past?

Special shout out to M242-Bakersfield. If you haven’t heard it on the October podcast, they are officially on campus and going strong! Looks like things are in the works right now for M242-Chico. Exciting stuff living for God!

UCSD

Today God put the University of California, San Diego on my heart. No, we don’t have an M242 charter there either. It just happened. I got online and found out some stats about the school. There are over 28,000 students there this year! Wow. That’s more than most town in the US. Campus Ministry leaders are missionaries that are planting a work for God. What an awesome privilege. So, in your Bible Study group this week/campus event, please pray for UCSD. If you’re someone who lives in San Diego, let’s figure out how we can connect the dots. God is in control.

Missions Trip Bloopers!

A team of ministers, young men and women, as well as other missions workers recently embarked on a trip to the city of Bohol on the Philippine Islands. While there, Ben Vandiver, Minister of Music for The Rock Church (Sacramento), was feeling really spiritual. So spiritual in fact, that he was riding his scooter and preaching: “Where there is water, what doth hinder you to be baptized”. What a wonderful and vivid illustration he offered next, with a special thanks to the hotel security that captured this on tape! Check it out. (Warning: Swallow your liquids first lest they come back up through your nose)

Tulsa Re-Cap & Some Inspiration

Uncategorized No Comments »

I’ve been to a lot of church meetings in my lifetime. I’ve attended many conferences and special camp meetings, youth conferences, etc As a summary of last week’s PEAK conference, I don’t think I’ve ever been in services like the kind we were in at PEAK. Not that one move of God is greater than another, but it was so powerful and so unique. It was timely. It was refreshing. It was AWESOME!

There is something to be said of unity. That’s what was in the room. It wasn’t elders preaching to youngsters. The pulpit and the pew were in complete agreement and the result was an authentic awakening, and moving of God’s Spirit all week long! Wow! I was blessed!

Mission242 was so happy to make so many friends. I’ve had a good problem this week. The M242 email has been blowing up since I’ve been back and hopefully that’s a sign that many people are getting pumped up about Christ on their campuses! I will save the full M242 report for the next Podcast though… leave you something to listen for!

A Little Inspiration
I’ve been rocking out to this song. God of the City by Chris Tomlin. I believe this for not just my city, but cities all across the nation! He is the God of the City (and the country too!!) GREATER THINGS ARE YET TO COME, GREATER THINGS ARE STILL TO BE DONE…..

M242 has been invited to come to Tulsa, Oklahoma to share the opportunity of campus ministry with Apostolic youth leaders, pastors and young people! Our goal is to partner with at LEAST 10 brand-new campuses! We want to share with the group of Youth Workers, some of which may be very experienced with campus ministry, the benefits of chartering their organization through Mission242.

So, look for the M242 booth in the lobby in Tulsa and come say “hello”! See you at PEAK (August 13-15)!
